Amanda started training racehorses at Coombelands Racing Stables in Sussex in 1996, when she took over the reins from father, Guy Harwood. Assisted by her husband Mark, she currently trains 60 race horses for the flat.

Coombelands has 150 acres of maintained gallop and farm land surrounding the stables, including four all-weather, turf gallops and numerous cantering areas, an equine swimming pool, indoor canterway and outdoor riding school. There is also have a banked turf American bend which is used to train horses that may race abroad as well as educating the youngsters to turn at speed for European tracks.
