Backing To Win
For the 2nd time in 3 months, Pace Tips recorded the biggest profit based upon backing all selections to 1 point level stakes. In July they topped the table with +138 points profit and they followed that up with an additional +111.68 points profit in August. In between they recorded a small loss of -1.42 points in July. Winners last month included Major Valentine at 22/1 (BSP 34.0), Bint Dandy at 20/1 (BSP 28.43), Pearl Acclaim at 20/1 (BSP 23.0) and Pastoral Player at 16/1 (BSP 23.0).
Their overall profit for the year, up to end August stands at +137.93 points.

Tipalgo Daily Ratings recorded a profit of +91.07 points based upon BSP, but a loss of -397.55 points at SP. The main factor for such a big difference was Rocky Court winning at 50/1, with a returned Betfair SP of 345.32. Well done anyone who backed it at BSP, but I suspect, at those odds, not many did. Despite the good August profit, you’d still be -772 points down for the year backing all of their top rated selections.
It’s been a while since Oddswise Racing received a mention, but August saw them make a profit of +43.79, which brings them to +20.16 points to the year to date. The month got off to an excellent start with 3 winners from 3 at Glorious Goodwood; Lil Rockerfeller at 11/4 (BSP 3.9), Soto Sizzler at 20/1 (BSP 25.12) and Medahim at 7/1 (BSP 8.75). They also backed Pastoral Player for the win at 20/1, plus King Of The Celts at 12/1 (BSP 14.38).

RaceBetter – Premium Tips have done extremely well since starting proofing in April. A profit of +20.39 points in August, was their 5th profitable month in a row and they’re now +78.59 points in profit, with a strike reate of 40%.
My 1 reservation about this service is I received a complaint from a subscriber to their service, due to the fact he wasn’t getting all their selection emails and was missing out on several winners as a result.
Also he didn’t receive a reply to any of the emails he sent to them and therefore requested a refund from Clickbank, who handle their subscriptions.
I contacted RaceBetter to find out what was going on and eventually received a reply from the guy who handles their admin, to say he’d been struck down with a really bad case of food poisoning.
Hopefully, now he’s recovered, it’ll mean issues regarding selections being sent out have been sorted, but I welcome comments below from anyone else, who’s subscribed to their service and is having problems receiving the selections.
Laying To Lose
Wayne Bailey Racing was top of the lay bet service, for August, with a profit of +5.23 points profit, based upon 1 point risk per selection. All bets are provided as lays for the place bet market.
Wayne Bailey Racing Performance For August 2018
As you can see from the chart above, the 3rd August was a bad day for the service. Just 2 selections out of 12, failed to place that day, resulting in a loss of -8.74 points. 9 of the selections place betfair SP were less than 2.0 and all of those got placed.
Laying the odds on selections can throw up the occasional very profitable winner. For example 11th August Almontaser was a place lay at 1.13 and produced a profit of +7.31 points, but overall filtering out all of Wayne’s selections where the place BSP is under 2.0, is an angle worth looking at when laying his selections and is something I’ll be testing over the coming months.
Another laying service that did well in August is Lay Bet Winners, who were successful with 44 out of 45 lays. BSPs ranged from 3.9 to 19.78, with the only selection, to win its race, being Flaming Spear at 5.3. Overall they made a profit of +4.89 points based upon 1 point risked on each selection at BSP. They’re currently showing a profit of +13.09 points for the year.
