It was a good first day at the Cheltenham Festival for the tipsters proofing their selections to Racing-Index. 10 of the services made over 5 points and 24 services ended the day showing a profit.
Top of the pile was Northern Monkey Punter, with a profit of 32 points based upon Betfair SPs. What’s more it didn’t all come as a result of 1 big winner. Although it shows as 15 bets, they only actually backed 10 horses, with some of the selections being submitted as both win and place bets. Their successes were Summerville Boy @ 9/1 (BSP 12.5) in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, Coo Star Sivola @ 5/1 (BSP 6.8) in the Ultima Handicap Chase, Rathvinden @ 9/2 (BSP 6.07) in the National Hunt Chase Challenge Cup and Mister Whitaker @ 13/2 (BSP 10.23) in the Close Brothers Novices’ Handicap Chase.
Equine Expert weighed in with a profit of 16.85 points from just 5 selections courtesy of also backing Summerville Boy and Mister Whitaker. Their profits would have been higher, as they also submitted Footpad to win the Arkle and Buveur D’Air to win the Champion Hurdle, but their SPs of 5/6 and 4/6 respectively, were below their minimum odds of evens, so were no bets.
Winners4Free submitted just 3 bets and although in the table above it shows their success rate was 66.7%, they actually had a return from each of the 3 bets. Kalashnikov was their each-way selection in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and finished 2nd at 5/1 breakeven on the bet. Their other 2 selections were each-way bets on Coo Star Sivola and Benie Des Dieux at 9/2 (BSP a massive 11.10) in the OLBG Mares Only Hurdle.
Betting Rant The Syndicate service and Bet Alchemist both also put Summerville Boy up as a selection. Betting Rant followed it up with an each-way bet on Shantou Flyer, 2nd at 14/1 and finished the day with a BSP profit of 8.58 points. Bet Alchemist took the more cautious approach, backing the selections e/w and picked up profits for the win on Rathvinden and place for Vintage Clouds.
Onwards to day 2 and and another exciting and hopefully profitable days racing at the Cheltenham Festival. I’ll be back again tomorrow to update on how the tipsters proofing their selections get on .
