Improve The Performance With A Visit To The Tack Shop

There are a number of products available to help improve the performance of your Raceclubs virtual horse. Select "Tack Shop" from the "My Stable" option on the left-hand menu.

Gelding

Gelding your virtual horse can have the most significant effect on it's performance. Obviously it only applies to male horses and is a one off purchase that can't be reversed. It costs $5 (£2.55) and will improve the performance of the horse by 0 to 3 lengths.

Alumites

When your horse enters a race it needs to be wearing proper racing shoes (Alumites). They cost $2 (£1.02) and will improve the performance of the horse by 0 to 2 lengths.

Blinkers

Just like the real racing world some horses prefer to run in blinkers, some run better without them. It's worthwhile trying them on your horse as they usually improve performance, but sometimes they can be detrimental. You can take the blinkers on and off as often as you like, so you have little to lose by trying them and they could make the difference between your horse winning and losing a race.

They cost $2 (£1.02) and will alter performance by -1 to +1 length. Use time trials to assess whether your horse runs better with or without them.

Vitamins

Vitamins improve the fitness level of your horse (they don't increase its actual ability). The main time they're useful is if you've nominated your horse and don't have enough time trials available to reach peek fitness for the race. Other than that it's cheaper to use time trials to improve fitness. They cost $2 (£1.02) and will improve the fitness of the horse by 5 to 10%.

When you've selected all the products you require, click on the "Add To Basket" button and purchase them in a similar way to when you brought your horse.

At this point you've brought the products, but you still need to apply them to your horse.

Select "Apply" from the "Tack Shop" option on the top menu.

The page shows you how many of each of the products you have purchased (available). Beneath that you have the option to apply the products to your horse. Use this same screen if you wish to subsequently remove items (e.g. take off blinkers) from your horse.

Check the relevant boxes and click the "Apply Selection" button.

It's best to apply just one product at a time (especially when you apply blinkers). Use the time trials to see what effect each product has on your horse.
