The left-hand menu within Tip-ie appears the same as it does on the Betfair site. Select the category to drill down to the event you wish to bet on:

The selection appears within the main part of the page. From here you can enter minimum and maximum odds, plus minimum and maximum number of runners in the race. Tip-ie will check these values before it places the bet.

Further selections can be added. You can see below, I've entered MinOdds of 2.00. Decimal odds are used, which equates to 1/1 when using fractional odds. This tells Tip-ie that I don't want to back the selection at OddsOn:

You can enter as many selections as you like in this way, but if you have a lot to enter there's an alternative way via the import function.
If you have your selections stored in Microsoft Excel or a similar package, you can output them as a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file. The image below shows an example file (it doesn't need to be this complex, you can just specify the time of the race and the name of the horse):

The top line shows the headings as required by Tip-ie. The other lines show the input data for each of the races.
For example line 2 is for the 12:40 race at Musselburgh we entered above. The selection is Purple Moon, to be backed at 5 minutes before the race at a stake of £33.30. Minimum odds of 2.00 (evens), no maximum odds. We wish to back the selection at reverse odds (The T tells Tip-ie to use the Reverse Odds tick as opposed to Fixed Odds).
Use the import option from the top menu to import the file:

Select the required file. Tip-ie will then show the selections for each race.
If you've not specified headings within your CSV file, you can select them using the dropdown boxes.:

Click on the "Import Selections" button and Tip-ie will use the Betfair API to import the selections.
If you make any spelling mistakes with any of the horses names it will not import them, so it's worth checking all selections have been imported successfully.

Once you're happy all selections have been imported correctly, click on the start button and leave Tip-ie to place the bets for you.

Tip-ie will count down the time to place the bet. In the above example Purple Moon was trading at OddsOn. As I'd specified minimum odds of 2.00 Tip-ie placed the bet at those odds to see if it would get matched.

Purple Moon continued to trade at oddson and the bet remained unmatched.
The next bet placed was on Annie's Answer. Tip-ie initially asked for odds of 5.9. This bet was not matched and you'll see it reduced the odds of the bet to 5.6 to get it matched. This is one of the advanced features of Tip-ie and I'll explain how it works on the next page. See Advanced Options >>
