Trainer of both flat and national hunt horses, at Barton Yard stables, on the Manton Estate in Marlborough, Wiltshire.
The yard comprises of an American Barn of 54 stables, which are spacious and airy, and laid out in a manner that ensures a relaxed and calm atmosphere. There is a large indoor school and a horse walker on site and a horse swimming pool nearby.
Horses are trained on the historic gallops that have been used by generations of Classic winners. There are several grass gallops and a watering system to ensure fair ground in high summer. There is also a woodchip and Polytrack gallop, both stretching for a mile and a quarter. The estate also provides ample turn-out paddocks for the horses.
The schooling hurdles and fences are situated beside the Barton gallop, less than a quarter of a mile away from the Barton Yard, which provides beautiful jumping ground. The Easyfix brush hurdles are easy to maintain and preclude the constant refurbishment that is required on standard racecourse hurdles.
Their site provides details of their latest winners, together with information on horses in training and those for sale. George’s blog provides latest updates from the stables.
