Yesterday I mentioned the fine form The Racing Edge has been in and speculated on whether they’d be able to carry their good results into the Cheltenham Festival. They had 2 winners, with Apple’s Jade winning the OLBG Mares Only Hurdle @ 7/2 (BSP 4.52) and Tiger Roll winning the J T McNamara National Hunt Chase @ 16/1 (BSP 27.32) giving them an overall profit on the day of 18.44 points based upon BSP.
In general it turned out a difficult day for most of the tipsters, who proof their selections to Racing-Index, with only a few returning a profit on their Cheltenham Bets. Here’s a list of the Top 5 based upon BSP Profit.
TS Ireland returned a respectable 6.7 points BSP profit on the day, thanks to a win for Tully East in the Close Brothers Novices’ Handicap Chase @ 8/1 (BSP 9.32), plus a couple of place bet wins for River Wylde and Melon.
Hot on their heals was Bet Alchemist who returned a profit of 6.18 points on their proofed bets, to Betfair SP. They picked up 2 winners in Un Temps Put Tout, each-way @ 9/1 (BSP 11.61) in the Ultima Business Solutions Handicap Chase and also selecting Tully East.
Backing at Betfair SP produced the best returns for The Racing Edge yesterday, but no doubt members of Bet Alchemist would have achieved greater profits taking advantage of Bookmakers Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) prices.
The top 5 for yesterday was completed by 2 of the tipsters from the Speculate2Accumulate service. Their Place Spotter service correctly picked Two Taffs and Gold Present to be placed and their 2015 Elite Service chipped in with a win and a place for Un Temps Pour Tout.
Onwards to Day 2 of the festival. The Racing Edge have again proofed selections for 6 of today’s races, TS Ireland has proofed a couple of selections, but nothing proofed so far from Bet Alchemist. I’m looking forward to another great day’s racing and will report back again tomorrow on how the proofed tipsters perform.
